Musical Journeys 2026 Announce the Program

Dear friends of Musical Journeys (Hudební výlety),

We present to you the program for the year-round concert series Musical Journeys 2026. Throughout the year, we will offer a diverse range of concerts, primarily featuring early and classical music, held in historical and technical monuments across the Moravian-Silesian Region. We also invite you to participate in a communal singing of the Biblical Songs during the Easter season.

The spring part will open with a chamber project by harpist Jana Boušková and flutist Jan Ostrý: Morceau de salon, which combines the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, Louis Spohr, Claude Debussy, and other composers. The Easter season will bring a spiritual dimension through a project by violinist Ewald Danel, featuring Haydn’s meditative work The Seven Last Words of Our Saviour on the Cross and Dvořák’s Biblical Songs, performed by the Slovak Chamber Orchestra and united choirs. The concert in the heart of Ostrava will be exceptional in its execution: “Anyone who learns the Biblical Songs and attends the rehearsal can join the singing at the concert – individuals, choirs, primary music schools (ZUŠ), groups, and singers of all ages. We will warmly welcome you – thanks to you, an amazing monumental choir and a truly vibrant atmosphere can be created,” Danel says, inviting everyone to sing together. In the spring, the audience can also look forward to an evening of French chansons by Ostrava singer Sylvie Bee, the “Folk Traces in Classics” program by the ensemble MusEquality, or the traditionally popular clarinet quintets by Mozart and Weber performed by the Wihan Quartet and Igor Františák. Early Italian Baroque will be presented by the acclaimed soprano Hana Blažíková with theorbist Jan Krejča.

The autumn part will offer a song recital by baritone Lukáš Bařák and piano virtuoso Marek Kozák, featuring works by Schubert, Chopin, Janáček, and Dvořák, as well as an authentic interpretation of J. S. Bach’s sonatas for baroque recorder and harpsichord performed by Jakub Kydlíček and Vojtěch Spurný. The cathedral atmosphere will then be enhanced by the “Soul of the Baroque” project, featuring acclaimed Moravian-Silesian natives (Františák and Kozák) led by the young generation’s vocal talent, Karolína Levková. This year will conclude with Advent and Christmas concerts – a Baroque Christmas by the prestigious players of the baroque orchestra Ensemble Inégal under the direction of Adam Viktora, and a festive program by the Low Brass Ensemble of the Czech Philharmonic: Once Upon a Christmas, which connects the spiritual depth of the Baroque tradition with Czech musical memory and the gentle nostalgia of the 20th century.

We look forward to seeing you,
