The meeting of the Wihan Quartet, one of the most respected Czech string ensembles, with clarinetist Igor Františák promises an exceptional chamber music evening in the noble setting of the Knights’ Hall of Frýdek Castle. The program brings together three distinct musical worlds: the expressive drama of Janáček’s First String Quartet, the romantic brilliance of Weber’s Clarinet Quintet, and the perfect classical balance of Mozart’s Quintet in A major.
Mozart’s work in particular belongs among the most beautiful chamber compositions ever written – here the clarinet does not shine as a soloist, but enters into a delicate dialogue with the strings, blending lyricism, elegance, and intimate poetry. Weber’s quintet adds a spark of virtuosity and dramatic contrast, while Janáček opens the evening with raw emotional intensity and human passion. The combination of a top-tier quartet with a distinctive clarinet interpretation creates chamber music as a living conversation – music that is not only beautiful, but also urgent, personal, and deeply communicative.
