The concert at Kunín Castle offers an encounter with the music of Johann Sebastian Bach in a setting whose historical elegance and refined acoustics naturally support the chamber Baroque repertoire. Jakub Kydlíček, a leading Czech recorder player, and harpsichordist Vojtěch Spurný rank among the most prominent figures of the Czech historically informed performance scene.
In the Great Hall of the castle, Bach’s sonatas and trio works will be heard in interpretations emphasizing clarity of voices, stylistic precision, and subtle expressive nuance. Kydlíček’s cultivated tone and technical assurance are complemented by the profound musical insight of Vojtěch Spurný, who is highly regarded not only as a virtuoso harpsichordist but also as a connoisseur of Baroque performance practice and an architect of musical form.
The program presents Bach not only as a master of counterpoint, but also as a composer of lyricism, joy, and spiritual depth. Within the historic surroundings of Kunín Castle, this music acquires a special sense of naturalness and nobility—as if returning to the space for which it was originally conceived. The evening promises concentrated listening, inner calm, and an encounter with Bach’s world in its purest form.
