Divertissement pour chalumeaux & clarinettes offers an extraordinary musical journey into the first half of the eighteenth century—a period when a new palette of colours and expressive possibilities was emerging from the world of Baroque wind instruments. Lotz Trio is among the very few European ensembles devoted systematically to the historical chalumeau and the earliest Baroque clarinets, revealing their remarkably rich, mellow, and refined sound.

Works by Graupner, Telemann, Handel and Hotteterre feature music often composed specifically for these now almost forgotten instruments—music that is playful, dance-like, festive and contemplative in equal measure. Featuring Róbert Šebesta, Igor Františák and Ronald Šebesta, joined by their guest Tomasz Dobrzanski, Lotz Trio offers audiences an authentic historically informed performance in which technical virtuosity is combined with a delight in sound and musical discovery.

This concert is an invitation into a world of subtle tonal colours, forgotten instruments and music that continues to sound astonishingly fresh even after three hundred years.
