Ondřej Janča

Ondřej Janča (born 1993) is a graduate of the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava, where he studied in the class of Jiří Masný, and the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava under the guidance of Igor Františák. During his studies, he expanded his solo skills by regularly attending master classes with leading Czech (K. Dohnal, I. Venyš, M. Řeřicha, …) and world clarinetists (Ch. Neidich, F. Heau, S. Hue, A. Marriner, H. Mäkki, G. Varga, …).

He has worked in several chamber ensembles, with which he has participated in international competitions. He is also a member of the Ostrava Klezmer Band, an ensemble dedicated to original adaptations of Yiddish music. He has performed solo, e.g. at the Festival of Young Laureates of International Competitions in Katowice, Poland (2016), the International Festival Ciudad de Torrevieja (2018) or with the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava (2017, 2023). With the Symphonic Wind Orchestra Májóvák he performed the Czech premiere of the Clarinet Concerto by Óscar Navarra (2018).

In 2016–2017 he was a member of the Silesian Theatre Orchestra in Opava and since 2017 he has been the first clarinetist of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre Opera.
