Josef Suk (1874–1935): Meditation on an old Czech Hymn “St. Wenceslas”, Op. 35a
Leoš Janáček (1854–1928): Suite for Strings, JW VI/2
Antonín Dvořák (1841–1904): Biblical Songs, Op. 99
The top violinist and conductor Ewald Danel brings another of his projects dedicated to Czech music. He took over The Slovak Chamber Orchestra (65 years since its foundation: in the autumn of 1960) from Bohdan Warchal (1930–2000) 25 years ago and has since built a targeted long-term cooperation with various church and amateur choirs and musical ensembles in the role of conductor, organizer and author of sacred music. On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the orchestra released a recording of Dvořák and Suk’s Serenade, which has been part of the orchestra’s core repertoire throughout its existence. This internationally renowned ensemble will perform Janáček’s famous Suite for Strings and an unconventional interpretation of Dvořák’s Biblical Songs for orchestra and choir.
