Programme:

The Ostrava Klezmer Band is an original group of musicians from the fields of classical music, jazz and folklore, who were united by a common interest in interpreting the Jewish music of Central and Eastern Europe called klezmer. It is the wide range of styles of the members that contributes to the originality of the ensemble’s musical arrangements. Individual players act both pedagogically, e.g. at the gymnasium or ZUŠ, as well as artistically in professional musical ensembles such as Moravian-Silesian National Theatre. Their joint musicianship corresponds to the spirit of klezmer music itself. They play in their free time, when they enjoy it, they are not afraid of improvisation and searching for new means of expression. The program of the concert moves on the border of two worlds – the traditional one, represented mainly in dances, and the new “American” wave.

Ostrava Klezmer Band:
Johana Černohorská – vocals
Jaroslav Podžorski – violin
Ondřej Janča – clarinet
Anežka Gebauerová – accordion
František Panáček – keyboards, cajón
Přemysl Mixa – double bass
