Marek Kozák

The name of pianist Marek Kozák is usually associated with flawless technique, a keen sense of proportion and gradation, a rich palette of registers, tremendous musicality, and an inner humility toward the musical score.

Marek Kozák has appeared with many internationally acclaimed as well as all major Czech orchestras, such as the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Bremer Philharmoniker, Baden-Baden Philharmonic, Musikkollegium Winterthur, MDR Leipzig Symphony Orchestra, Filharmonia Sudecka Wałbrzych, the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, Prague Philharmonia, the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Brno Philharmonic, the Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, the Pilsen Philharmonic, and others.
He collaborates regularly with renowned conductors including Jakub Hrůša, Petr Altrichter, Robert Jindra, Zsolt Hamar, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Gergely Madaras, Christoph-Mathias Mueller, Heiko Mathias Förster, Charles Olivieri-Munroe, Rastislav Štúr, Stefan Blunier, Benjamin Bayl, and Enrico Delamboye.

In the 2025/2026 concert season, he will make his debut with the Czech Philharmonic, performing George Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F under the baton of Alain Altinoglu.

Marek is also a sought-after chamber musician. His musical partners include soprano Simona Šaturová, cellists Václav Petr and Vilém Vlček, and violinist Jan Novák.

His critically acclaimed album Forgotten Czech Piano Concertos, released by Supraphon in March 2024, is the result of many years of research and dedication to lesser-known repertoire. The album features concertos by Karel Kovařovic, Vítězslava Kaprálová, and Pavel Bořkovec, recorded with the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Robert Jindra. In March 2026, Supraphon will release a solo recording of Rachmaninov transcriptions.

Marek Kozák has achieved an impressive string of successes in numerous prestigious international competitions. Among his most recent accolades are the title of laureate at the renowned International Bach Competition in Leipzig (2025) and at the prestigious Concours Géza Anda in Zurich (2021). He is also a laureate of the Prague Spring International Music Competition (2016), where he additionally received a special prize for his performance of the contemporary composition The Jongleur by Adam Skoumal. In 2018, he won both the first prize and the audience prize at the European Piano Competition in Bremen.

Marek Kozák graduated from the piano class of Professor Ivan Klánský at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (HAMU). He currently teaches at the Grammar School and Music School of the City of Prague.
